Founded in 1962 by the late Jane L. Goll, Westminster School located in Annandale, Virginia (Northern Virginia) is a non-denominational and independent school teaching grades K through 8. The Westminster program incorporates rigorous academic standards, a traditional curriculum centered on the study of the classics, and an atmosphere intended to promote respect, integrity, kindness, and a sense of excellence. Guided by the 'Golden Triangle' - which demands the common purpose and mutual support of faculty, parents, and school administration - Westminster School's fundamental goals for each child are a disciplined and well-informed mind, strength of character, dedication to learning, generosity of spirit, and joy in the possibilities of life. The school's students have consistently tested above average in vocabulary, mathematics, and reading comprehension.
The curriculum consists of English, History/Classical Studies, Mathematics, Science, Language Arts (French grades K-8 and Latin grades 7-8), Physical Education and Athletics, Art, Music and Orchestra, Enrichment (at the discretion of Headmaster Ellis Glover and tailored for each particular grade), and Drama.
