Westminster opened in 1978. WCA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International. It is the first school in Louisiana to attain that distinction. Tuition ranges from $3,775 to $4,890 depending on the grade. The school goes for 175 days a year for 7 hours a day. Its current principal is Myra Baker serving her first year.

While Opelousas is the main campus, Westminster opened a campus in Lafayette which only goes to 6th grade. Its current principal is Becky Boudreaux.

WCA has made a bigger stride in its football games in 2007, competing against John Curtis which was going for its 22nd state championship in football. John Curtis won in the end. Westminster's head of football is Tommy Badon.

Westminster has been popular for its theater productions. This years production of "Scrooge" has broken the previous highest profit set by last years production of "Cinder Ella." This years spring production was "Never Land", an adaptation of J. M. Barrie's play by the drama director Jim Chambers. Their production of "Never Land" also gained a large article in the local paper, and a blurb on the front page.
