[edit] History

The school was established in the fall of 1989 as a result of the consoldation of Valley High School and Bruce High School. Westmar is located in the old Valley High building.

Although Bruce High School was the first high school of its community, Valley High School can trace its roots back to Central High School (of Upper George's Creek) and Barton High School. Before Barton, Central and Bruce came into being, the area was filled with small school houses for every neighborhood.
