Westinghouse Digital Electronics LLC is an American company that manufactures LCD monitors and other consumer electronic products, licensing its name from Westinghouse Electric Corporation, a division of CBS Corporation.
A relatively recent addition to the LCD television market, Westinghouse Digital is notable for having mass-marketed one of the first 1080p HDTV-ready monitors. As a newer electronics name, most of Westinghouse's products include budget-level features and price-points, though the picture quality of their screens have generally received good reviews.[1]
Though Westinghouse Digital licenses its name from CBS and is incorporated in California, there has been some controversy as to who actually owns the company. President Douglas Woo has maintained the confidentiality of the ownership of the private company, but admits it has a significant vertically-integrated relationship with Chi Mei Optoelectronics, a Taiwanese manufacturer of LCD panels.
