Western Springs (soccer)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Western Springs is a soccer club in New Zealand.

Western Springs Association Football Club is located on Meola Road in Point Chevalier. It currently has many teams competing in various divisions and competitions. The highest ranked team is the Women, who are in the Northern Premier League.

This year the Women's team have had some great signings from New Zealand internationals such as Maia Jackman, Priscilla Duncan and Abby Erceg, while they keep a large core from last year with players such as Annabelle Bramwell, Poppy Binning, Holly Jones and Sarah Nelson all RETURNING to try and bring the cup, and the league back to its rightful position. Holly Jones will be an essential member of this 2007 squad if we are to achieve both feats. She creates and brings an unexplainable atmosphere to the squad which will just be invaluable. She is really the final piece of the puzzle and the squad are really looking forward to having Jonesy back at full strength and quote "putting the bloddy ball in the net".

The Men's Team is in its first year competing in the 2nd Division Northern League. This year's Team Captain is Paul Temple. Paul along with the rest of the squad are hoping to have another successful year, hoping to win their league, and be promoted into the 1st division. A young signing this year, Billy Holland is hoping to bring some youth and flare into the squad.
