Western Slope is an area on the western side of the New Jersey Palisades in Jersey City, New Jersey. This neighborhood is on the gradual side of this cuesta, on the western side of the Palisades. The area lies between the Boulevard and Tonnele Avenue from Jersey City's border with Union City at Secaucus Road to Beach Street or further south to the Tonnele Circle at Route 139. Tonnele Avenue through Western Slope is also known as U.S. Route 1/9 between the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, and is dotted with motels and gas stations. Some erosional effects from development can be seen along the eastern side of Tonelle Avenue. The area along Tonnele Avenue is industrial and commercial, whereas the blocks to the east are residential, with only one area of green space, Leonard Gordon Park next to the rest of The Heights neighborhood.
