An ametuer multi-sporting event, that is held every four years. The games are all held in Western Canada. The games are for amateur athletes to advance in sporting skills similar to the Canada Games, before it.The WCSG consists of the Four western provinces(British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.), and the three Northern territories( the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut).

The Games were first held at Regina, Saskatchewan in 1975 with only the original four Western provinces participating. They were first held two years before the Canada Games. In the 1983 games, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories joined in with 23 athletes. In the 2003 Games, Nunavut joined in completing the participants of seven jurisdictions.

Athletes that participate in the WCSG are ranged from ages 13 to 23, and the teams are divided between male, and female athletes. There is also wheelchair sports for the people with disabilities.
