Western Bari

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Western Bari (Somali: Galbeedka Bari) is a region (gobol) in northern Somalia. Western Bari is claimed by the two self-proclaimed but internationally-unrecognized states of Puntland and Maakhir. The region was part of larger Bari region of Somalia but since Maakhir declared its independence this became separate region. Its capital city is Galgala.

Western Bari has a short coastline facing the Gulf of Aden to the north and is bordered by the Somalian regions of Boharo and Bari.

The region lays strategic location as the high way that’s links Boosaaso to the rest of Somalia goes through this territory.
