Western Acres Estates, Michigan

The Western Acres Estates are a Real Estate Development located in Spring Arbor Township, Jackson County, Michigan. The development originally began in the late 1960s, but was never fully completed. Located off Sandstone Road, it includes what is now Scotch Blue Street and Western Acres Drive.

Scotch Blue was originally designated Drive, but is now designated by the United States Postal Service as Street.

The original plans included two separate developments: Western Acres I and Western Acres II, both of which have been at least partially constructed. Western Acres I includes what is now the eastern-most portion of Scotch Blue Street and the entire portion of Western Acres Drive. Western Acres II includes what is now the western-most portion of Scotch Blue Street, and the cul-de-sac located at the western-most end.

Two streets that were originally planned, but never constructed include: Baldwin Circle and Jawino Drive. Baldwin Circle would have connected from what is now the cul-de-sac of Scotch Blue Street, south then east to what is now the terminus of Western Acres Drive. Jawino Drive would have connected from what is now roughly halfway between the eastern and western termini of Scotch Blue Street, then to the north with an open terminus at the northern boundary of the south-east quarter of section 11 in the survey township T3S R2W.

The original plans would have included Western Acres I in the Jackson, Michigan Post Office, while Western Acres II would have been included in the Spring Arbor, Michigan Post Office. Neither of the two developments would have been included in the Spring Arbor, Michigan CDP.

The development is located enitrely within the Western School District, which includes Western High School. Bean Elementary School is located to the south. The Jackson Community College district covers the same area.

The Jackson, Michigan Post Office serves the development. It has designated the ZIP Code 49201-9370 to all addresses located on Scotch Blue Street and 49201-9327 to all addresses located on Western Acres Drive.
