The Westchester Phantoms are a professional basketball team in the Blue (Eastern) Conference of the American Basketball Association based in Westchester County, New York. The team plays home games at Peekskill High School in Peekskill, New York.
The team began play as the Brooklyn Wonders and was owned by Leigh Sutton and their general manager was Ron Eford before an ownership change. The team was purchased midseason in mid-December 2006 by Daisy Brand (mother of Los Angeles Clippers star Elton Brand and his brother Artie McGriff, who will be GM) resumed play on February 3, 2007, going by the name Brooklyn Comets.[1] The Comets finished the season with a 5-2 record and an 8-5 record overall.
The team moved to Peekskill, becoming the Westchester Phantoms, for the 2007-2008 season. Peekskill is the home of the Brand family. Former WNBA star Teresa Weatherspoon was hired as coach.[2] Weatherspoon previously played in New York for the New York Liberty.
