The principal is Lori Broughton, who newly joined the campus. The school was opened August 2005 and is the latest intermediate school in CCISD. Westbrook's building layout was modeled after Victory Lakes Intermediate, for energy conservation reasons. The WAVE program, or Webster Academy Visions in Education program, is housed at the Westbrook campus especially for identified G/T students living within the district. The school is currently a Texas recognized school based on test scores, academic achievement, and the TAKS test.

[edit] Notable programs
- Orchestra — Tom Dinardis, member of the TODA [1]: There are four levels of orchestras at Westbrook Intermediate: Beginners, Sinfonia, Philharmonic, and Chamber respectively from lowest to highest. The Philharmonic, a new level as of the 2006/2007 school year, received "Sweepstakes" (straight ones) at the annual UIL competition, with ones for both the sight-reading and performance divisions. The Chamber orchestra also received sweepstakes, and has been receiving this award for several years. The top orchestra also attended the South Coast Music Festival which performed in the 1894 Opera House in Galveston, TX. The group received all ones for this festival.[2][citation needed]
- Art — Jamie Presley and Terri McCrory: In art, there are four different classes: Beginner, Art 2-D, Art 3-D, and Art Advanced. Art 2-D teaches the students how to use different types of elemental techniques on drawing and painting. Art 3-D teaches the third dimension of art to the students and includes work with clay to make masks, pottery, and houses and papermache to make piñatas. After taking Art 2-D and Art 3-D, students are permitted to take Art Advanced if they choose. Students learn more about art and the elemental aspects of art. During the school year, students turn in a number of art selections to be submitted into art contests such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
- Band — Rick Brockway, Maria Hernandez, Keith Raney: Westbrook Band is one of the premier Middle School Bands in Region XVII. There are four levels, Beginner, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced. Beginner is only for 6th graders learning how to play an instrument. 6th graders can join band a year later in 7th but it is very rare. The Advanced and Concert band levels both received a "Sweepstakes" (highest rating of I in Sight Reading and Concert Performance) at the annual UIL Competition in the 2005-2006 School year, as well as in '06-'07 and '07-'08. Under the direction of Mr. Brockway the Webster Intermediate band scored as a three-time state finalist in the TMEA Honor Competition.[1][citation needed]
- Choir — Carolyn Barksdale: At Westbrook Intermediate, the various choirs (beginner, concert, acapella and boys) are divided by singing ability and musical literacy. Many of the choir students often make the region choir, as well as excel at solo and ensemble contests. Around October or November of each year, the choir puts on a musical (i.e. Aladdin, High School Musical, etc.). During the spring, the choir delivers Singing Valentines and hosts a Pop Show.
- Journalism — Carol Hairfield: Westbrook's journalism committee works on the yearbook all year, learning about how to take photos, how to write an article, and techniques that could later be used.
- MathCounts team; Won the Bay Area district, Greater Houston Chapter MathCounts competition for several years. Westbrook, in 2006, was top 4th team of the MathCounts competition for Greater Houston Chapter. [3] [4]
- Robotics; WIRED (Westbrook Intermediate Robotics Engineering Division): This team first competed in the Texas BEST state competition in 2006 to return every year since. WIRED competed in the Space City BEST hub since its founding in 1999 as Webster Intermediate.[2] During 2006 and 2007, WIRED received 2nd in the BEST award at the Space City Best competition.
[edit] Magnet program
In 1996, Clear Creek Independent School District established an intermediate gifted and talented magnet at Webster Intermediate School, known as Webster Academy – Visions in Education (WAVE). This program was moved to Westbrook in 2005.
This GT magnet academy brings together gifted and talented students from across the District for the opportunity to interact with their intellectual peers and to participate in a learning environment designed to facilitate and expand their opportunities and experiences. There are approximately 100 students per grade level in the WAVE program, and all are identified as gifted and talented. Every four and a half to nine weeks, these students select mini-courses that are offered by their teachers. Mini-courses reach through a wide range of genres, from SCUBA diving to fencing, board game design to teaching, roller coaster design, future cities competitions, robotics, music composition, foreign languages or countries, etc. There is even a mini-course that teaches students how to use Photoshop CS2, as well as one that gives a HAM radio license. An unspoken tradition for eighth graders is to take the "dance, dance, dance" mini-course, which teaches children many types of dancing.
Students who attend the WAVE program may come from all over Clear Creek Independent School District. Their school day begins and ends one hour earlier than regular intermediate school students, excluding Science Magnet students. They also take only one language arts period, a compound class of reading and writing, instead of having one period of reading and one period of writing. Otherwise, the students are no different from regular students who attend Westbrook.
