The West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District was a merger of two separate, neighboring school districts: the Plainsboro School District and the West Windsor school district. The two organizations later merged in the mid-20th century when the farm towns were starting to grow rapidly so that they could accommodate the increasing number of students newly enrolling.[citation needed]
