West Bradford Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,775 at the 2000 census. The actor Claude Rains, who earned an Oscar Nomination for supporting actor when he portrayed Louis in the film Casablanca owned the Stock Grange Farm in West Bradford. The well known botanist, Humphry Marshall, also lived in West Bradford. There are three federal historic districts (Marshallton, Trimbleville, and Northbrook) on the National Register of Historic Places located within West Bradford Township [1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 18.6 square miles (48.2 km²), of which, 18.6 square miles (48.1 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it is water. The total area is 0.32% water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 10,775 people, 3,419 households, and 2,878 families residing in the township. The population density was 580.5 people per square mile (224.2/km²). There were 3,464 housing units at an average density of 186.6/sq mi (72.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 92.41% White, 4.94% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 1.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 3,419 households out of which 45.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.1% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.8% were non-families. 12.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.98 and the average family size was 3.27.
In the township the population was spread out with 32.8% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 105.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.0 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $79,063, and the median income for a family was $81,721. Males had a median income of $56,487 versus $36,507 for females. The per capita income for the township was $30,405. 2.1% of the population and 1.5% of families were below the poverty line. 1.3% of those under the age of 18 and 8.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
