[edit] Introduction
West Borough Primary School is located in Maidstone, Kent, UK. It consists of around 390 pupils ranging from the nursery to Year Six (Key Stage 1 and 2).
[edit] The School
The school has been there since 1915 and was one of the original four council schools (north, south, east and west – borough). They have had an extensive building programme over recent years and now have a very modern Year R and Key Stage 1 building designed for the 21st century and a purpose built nursery catering for children from age 3.
The new accommodation has large rooms with lots of space and resources including two fenced activity/play areas. The Key Stage 2 building has been extensively modernised and extended over the years. There is a hall and a library in each building. The library was provided by the PTFA (Parent, Teacher, Friends Association) and is constantly replenished.
There is a purpose built computer suite with 30 machines. The network is linked to each classroom where there are further computers so that ICT is used regularly throughout the school day. Each classroom and the ICT suite have a ‘Smartboard’ which is used to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.
