West Bay Centre, Newfoundland and Labrador
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
West Bay Centre is a small community on the Western coast of Newfoundland. The population is about 300. This is the home of a fiddle player Alphonsus Young. He and his brother in-law Maxwell Hodder (guitar player) has been playing at some of the Cape St. George's earlier festivals. They also play at various fund raisers. Alphonsus is desended from six generations of Young (Lejeune) fishing families which started in Larochelle France. The moose population is high in this part of the island. There are still a lot of fishermen here.
