Wesseling is a city in Germany, located 20 km south of Cologne, in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis. The name Wesseling originates from the time were boats on the river rhine were still pulled by horses. Wessling was a location where horses were changed e.g. "Wechsel die Ling" which means as much as "Changing of the rope". Wesseling is an industrial city on the Rhine, home to several chemicals producing companies including Degussa and Basell, and a Royal Dutch Shell oil refinery.
