WESTEST

WESTEST is the West Virginia standards test. Its official name is the West Virginia Educational Standards Test. The catigories are, in order, are Distinguished, Above Mastery, Mastery, Partial Mastery, and Novice. Failure to pass does not lead to repeating the grade. It only tests students in grades 3-8, and 10 in subjects Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. Students in 10th grade don't take the Social Studies Test. Students may take "mini" or practice westests in order to prepare for the official test in early May. These practice Westests are reviewed by teachers and the principals.
