WESO's tag line is "The Spirit 970" and is the "Travel and Tourism Station" of southern Worcester County.[citation needed]
The station also broadcasts local high school sporting events, mainly football and basketball. Sean Sweeney, a former sports writer with the Southbridge Evening News, is the station's play-by-play man and works as a one-man broadcast team. Southbridge Evening News sports editor Dave Forbes does the afternoon news and sports Monday through Thursday and helps out with commentary on high school sporting events.
