User:West London Dweller
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Username says it all really. I live in West London and have a technical background.
My contributions are likely to be sporadic, and what I know tends to be broad rather than in-depth.
I'll be doing random minor edits for format, spelling, Wikification etc and adding the (very) occasional article.
Contributing as WLD since 24 August 2004.
Usually making minor, rather than major contributions due to work commitments.

[edit] National language variation
For the avoidance of doubt: my preferred variant of English is so-called British English. Any articles I originate should use British English spellings, unless this conflicts with Wikipedia guidelines or policy (e.g. the article is on an American, Australian, New Zealand, Indian, South African etc. topic). Wikipedia guidelines are here.

[edit] Articles I have originated or to which I have contributed 'significantly' i.e. not minor edits
Not meant as a bragging list - just here for ease of my personal reference.
[edit] Proposal for multiple editing boards and subsequent discussion at the Village pump
Moved into the box room, here. When my square tuits are sufficiently worn, I'll revisit it.
[edit] Dealing with Dead External Links
Dead links are unprofessional, and should be fixed on a regular basis. You can try to find the current location of the resource using a Google search. Dead links of online newspaper articles can be converted to references to off-line sources. Do not simply remove dead links; they often contain valuable information.
However, if unsuccessful tag the link with {{dead link}} which will notify other editors that the link is dead and optionally provide a link to the Internet Archive. See Wikipedia:Citing sources#What to do when a reference link "goes dead" and Wikipedia:Using the Wayback Machine.
This page is intended to be a clearing house for all such external links. If you make corrections to the source article to fix a broken link, please indicate so below to prevent a duplication of effort. Also use the following edit summary can help increase the awareness of the problem:
