[edit] Decluterring

I support these things in principal but when they are cluttured full of details of branches and every other thing is in bold or italics they detract from the articles they are put in. MRSC 14:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for sorting it out, sorry, I just copied and edited the ECML template, they mentioned branches etc., am I right in thinking >=stops on a branch?, thanks again DannyM 17:55, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes thats right. Its a nice simple notation I think. MRSC 18:01, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I concur with you DannyM 18:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
It works fine when it only shows the intercity-served stations, with hidden commuter stops —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.20.132.208 (talk) 18:40, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Desc for 24 April 2006 1858

On second look, I haven't really described how ive changed the template very well, Ive changed it to read :

Lockerbie
Motherwell
Glasgow Central
>Haymarket
>Edinburgh Waverley

This is because strictly speaking as GLA and MOT are in the West, they are the main line, whereas HAY and EDI are to the East and thus are a branch. Just to clarify DannyM 18:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Carstairs/Carstairs Junction

The template needs to show Carstairs Junction, because this is where the line splits (and the Caledonian Sleeper stops here, according to talk:Carstairs Junction). Carstairs railway station is a minor station that is unambiguously on the Glasgow leg. This is why I reverted the change. --Concrete Cowboy 17:29, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Re-reading the Carstairs RS article, I realise that I'm guessing from memory. Someone from Scotland needs to edit factually. --Concrete Cowboy 17:34, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Mainline trains still stop there nonetheless so i think it should be mentioned under HST. Simply south 00:08, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I've pulled some more detail, leaving the template as just a mainline guide. We may want to construct a detailed template separately for just the WCML (as this current template is shown on every station page as well).Pickle 10:20, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for decluttering it - I was not convinced about the addition of various junctions - even though I had done it myself. Virgin trains and Caledonian Sleeper stop at Carstairs so it should be included. As only one connecting line had been added to Carlisle, I have added two other, but have realised that I have omited the S&C - probably the most significant. --Stewart 13:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
If i understand the area correctly no main line (ie Virgin West Coast, VXC, Sleepers, etc) use any of the branches at Carlisle. Thus IMHO we should pull all the detail around Carlisle. As for junction names, that too could clutter up the template too much. Pickle 15:17, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Fairly fundamentally, Carstairs railway station is north of the junction (on the Glasgow branch), not south of it as was originally shown. --Concrete Cowboy 13:18, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Branch symbols

I've made the diagram more like how it was so that the main route and the loops (Northampton, Birmingham, Manchester) are differentiated. It's not as pretty as the BS2 version, but I think it's more informative. If there were a way to both use the BS2 symbols and keep the main route straight, I'd be all for it. --82.45.163.4 22:01, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I like it! The issue (by jumping form BS2 to BS5) however is that this template in transcluded not just on the WCML page but on the pages of many of its stations (a practise I'm not entirely happy with). Pickle 22:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Collapsible Minor stations

I have edited the diagram to show collapsible minor stations which exist on the line but aren't served by Virgin Trains. Is this a good idea? And how is it possible to solve the misalignment between Rugby and Hillsmorton Junction? Anywikiuser (talk) 18:42, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
