This article about the Westheimer Street Festival was based on the history of the festival, especially after 1993 when the Westheimer Colony Art Festival relocated to Downtown Houston which became the Bayou City Art Festival.

Although a Houston-area resident contributed the content, having the article tagged is dead wrong unless there was questionable content.

Hi, thanks for responding. The template:cleanup/Category:Wikipedia cleanup tag is not meant as a criticism of the content, or the POV, or a suggestion that it should all be deleted. It is a way of calling in other Wikipedians to help bring the article up to a higher standard, particularly in matters of formatting and copyediting. I'm going to restore the tag, which should bring positive attention to the article. I'd have done the work myself but it's a long article and I have a long to-do list already. ;) If you'd like to do it, there are useful style resources at Category:Wikipedia style guidelines. Not to worry. It's a swell article and we're gonna make it better (I hope!). Thanks for your contributions. -Willmcw 10:02, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 12.12.05 revision - a heinous act of vandalism

It seems that a hacker has deleted two sections of the Westheimer Street Festival site and the 12.6.05 version was restored. Although the at-will deletion was uncalled for, there might be numerous finger-pointing on who ordered the page revised.

Although activist Seributra is supportive of the recent WestFest Compressed, he has met with the organizers M. Martin and has known the editor of the Free Press Houston newspaper since 2003. It is unknown if anyone from either the former WestFest producer (John Florez) or a third party is responsible for hacking the previous revision; this should end ASAP.Montrose Patriot 05:58, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Editors should try to find ways to cut down on this material - the article is much too long and lacks an "encyclopedic tone". -Willmcw 05:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Most of the syntax pertaining to the Westheimer Street Festival has been complied from media archives and/or from other WestFest-related websites. Although a few Houstonians have contributed material, it seems that a task force of those familiar with the history of the Westheimer Street Festival should come forward. About 40% of the page were based on past third-party interviews with Don "The Emissary" Seributra, one section which has been proposed is an overall history of the festival between 1971 - 1993; the recently created Bayou City Art Festival section can provide a lot more to which Houston-area residents (or former Houstonians) can contribute.

An updated tag to which third parties can add more information is welcomed; this includes historical photographs of the festival since its inception.Montrose Patriot 06:53, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Regardless of the sources, this material is too-long and too casual. As for the sources- I hope that none of the text is copied verbatiom, as that would be a likely copyright violation and plagiarism. I'm not sure how central Seributra is to this topic, but if he is central to it then he probably should not be editing this article. -Willmcw 07:15, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Market Square

From the article:

What is the "Market Square" here? Somehow I don't think it's either the Australian shopping centre or either of the Finnish market squares. I would normally change the title of the article the link goes to but I don't know anything about this Westheimer Street Festival thingy so I don't have any idea what I should write in the title. [edit] 'Expert' Revision and Cleanup, as per request

As a former stage producer for the original Westheimer Street Festival and one-time associate producer of the current version of the event, I certainly meet anyone's criteria as an 'expert' on this subject. The previous editor to touch this page inserted a considerable amount of absolutely irrelevant biographic material regarding themselves, as well as numerous dead external links and a lot of background material that has no business in the article itself.

Claims of 'heinous vandalism' aside--if Mr. Seributra wishes to publish his biography on Wikipedia, I strongly suggest he create a page for that specific purpose. While his efforts on behalf of this particular subject are certainly commendable, inserting himself into the subject matter does no credit to either the subject matter or himself.

Excellent work, I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but I'm not the subject matter expert. Thanks, Postoak 19:41, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Remove conjectures

The line "Mr. Florez was an acceptable figure to the predominately gay and gay-friendly property owners within the festival's core precincts" is pure conjecture and should be removed unless an un-biased third party scientific survey or poll can be produced to support such an assertion. John Florez' informal surveys don't count. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.199.209.148 (talk) 02:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
