Yes, and what else? Is this considered a weed throughout (continental) Europe since it's found on some lists of invasive species?

According to (Turner, Nancy J. Food Plants of Interior First Peoples (Victoria: UBC Press, 1997) ISBN 0-7748-0606-0) some aboriginal people dug up the rhizomes in early spring and there's no mention of it only being a starvation food or otherwise not normally eaten.
