[edit] Comment
"Andrew Baker has been a figurehead for the school since the early 1990s and has proved pivotal to the continued success and achievement notwithstanding £2.8m building developments. Baker is treated by the staff in one of two categories; firstly as a "messiah type" figure led by Dr Alan White and secondly as a Victorian headmaster maintaining old-fashioned obsolete ideas including a daily assembly which has been described by the teacher staff as being "an opportunity for the headmaster to glorify himself daily and preach to students about the 'good old days' when Britain was truly Britain and similar nonsense". This has resulted in a turn around of between 10 and 12 teachers annually, which represents about a sixth of the staff employed."
I noticed this on an edit in the history, and as a former student of the school, I feel compelled to clear up the comment above. Mr. Andrew Baker is a respected figure, but his Victorian attitude and "Thatcherite" beliefs have been highlighted. The daily Assembly is used to glorify himself, and as many parents of fellow students in my time there have commented, "He loves the sound of his own voice".
10 and 12 teachers leaving annually is a bastardized exaggeration. I've never seen more than 5 leave in a given year, and indeed, I have seen many stick around. That being said, I do recall going through 5 Physics teachers during my GCSE studies. Dr. White, Mrs. Coe, and Mrs Marlow are several of the ones who were there throughout my tenure, with ones like Mr. Barnes, Mr. Wife, and Dr. Raman arriving later, but still staying for a long time.TrekMaster 21:28, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
