I am an old West Monian. Hopkins boarded there (well before my time), but he hated it - this has been documented in various biographies of his. As a result, it is not something that was ever widely publicised.
Other famous alumni who are missing are: Bryn Meredith Newport, Wales and British Lions Hooker I'm sure Lord Sterling was a guest at prize day and was introduced as an old boy.
