Werner Fürbringer

Werner "Fips" Fürbringer (1888 - 1982) was a successful German U-boat commander in the Kaiserliche Marine during World War I.

He was present on U-20 but left that boat to take command of UB-2 prior to the U-20's sinking of the RMS Lusitania in 1915. After 3 years in the post as a commander (his last boat being UB-110), he was captured and held as a British Prisoner of war.
