Werlaburgdorf is a municipality in the district of Wolfenbüttel, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It was the site of the Werla Kaiserpfalz castle of King Henry I, where in 926 he was besieged by the Hungarian cavalry. While their horses sank into the swampy area of the nearby Oker River, Henry managed to capture a Hungarian nobleman (probably Zoltán, son of Grand Prince Árpád) and to reach an agreement on a nine-years-ceasefire.
