Hey there!

Right, if you want to put a "definition" into an article, all you need to do is go to the bottom of the editing screen, and just above the save page button there should be another text box called the edit summary. You just put what you want into that. Just contact me again if you need more help. Beno1000 01:41, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikihalo help

I won a Wikihalo, and I am wonering what "Highest Standard" meant. WereWolf 16:01, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't know what you mean, or what a "Wikihalo" is, but you can looks these words up in the dictionary. —Centrxtalk • 22:49, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
That's really not what I meant. What I meant was, on the discription for the Wikihalo, it says "he/she will not be chosen if not up to highest standard" or something like that. I do not understand that being of highest standard is. WereWolf 23:20, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
The best answer would probably be from the user who awarded you the Wikihalo :) Bjelleklang - talk 00:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
He got blocked. WereWolf 04:32, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
{helpme} has given you all the assistance we can with this question. {helpme} is really just to be used for building the encyclopedia.--Commander Keane 04:46, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Then it is probably fairly meaningless. Anyone can give these "awards", and the worth of them is entirely dependent on the personal authority of the user who gave them to you. You may very well be a fine editor, but an award or lack of an award would not change that, and a personal message is much more effective in conveying plaudits. —Centrxtalk • 04:50, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Alright, it was just a simple question . . . no need to jump down my throat . . . WereWolf 14:51, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: WikiProject

OK. First, in case you haven't noticed, I'm the same guy who started Wikipedia:WikiProject The Offspring and Wikipedia:WikiProject Pennywise. All you have to do to create a WikiProject is like this, for example:

Welcome to Social Distortion WikiProject!

Then you add text below the "welcome" part about what's up with the article.

[edit] To do list

If you have done one of the following strike it out.

  • You add text of what the article needs.

[edit] Scope

[edit] Open tasks

[edit] Closed tasks

[edit] Templates

  • {{SocialDistortion}}
This should be used on all articles related to Social Distortion

Template:SocialDistortion

  • {{WikiProject Social Distortion}}
This template should be added to the talk pages of any article that falls within the scope of Social Distortion

{{Template:WikiProject Social Distortion}}

[edit] Categories

This should be used on all articles related to Social Distortion
This should be used on all articles related to Social Distortion songs
This should be used on all articles related to Social Distortion albums

Just Enjoy any project you're about to create and feel free to ask me if I would like to join any. Alex 00:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Saw your post on the Stress alerts page...

Thought you might like to talk about things. I'm saddened to here you're not having a good run of things, & I thought I'd lend a hand if you need to get out of anything, like a bad mood or rut. Well, hope you have had a better new year... :) Spawn Man 03:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Sure, I'm always available (or try to be), but have been off a bit lately for "Christmas" reasons. I'm trying to get more time on here, & whatever chance I do get, I'll be happy to talk things over with you... :) Hope you have a good day & have better luck with vandalous IPs... :) Spawn Man 07:35, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
I had a similar experience on the Nero article. It was a very frustrating experience where someone kept on placing new incorrect work & removing my perfectly sound factual work. The best thing to do is get other admins involved. Keep your cool also. Just remember, it's nly an encyclopedia, so don't sweat it too much. I eventually walked away, but I had definitely gotten the vandal to reference his additions & he started to make some great edits to the article after I had talked it over calmly with him. Although it may feel stupid & absolutely frustrating, talking it over calmly always seems to get somewhere. So I hope you have a good day & also hope that your wikistress has gone down slightly... :) Spawn Man 23:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

{unblock-auto|1=68.35.151.237|2=Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "ScreamAtMe". The reason given for ScreamAtMe's block is: "simple vandalism".|3=Mushroom}

I have removed the autoblock, you probably just happened to use the same IP address as a vandal. I have unblocked the IP so everything should be fine now. Wikipedia:Autoblock explains more about why the software does this, sorry for the inconvenience.--Commander Keane 03:14, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock of 68.35.151.237 lifted or expired.

I have removed the autoblock again. If this happens again to you today, please re-request an unblock-auto but also kindly suggest to the unblocking admin that they also change the original block so that it does not trigger an autoblock. This is normally only done as a last resort but we do try hard not to keep on offending legitimate editors such as yourself. I hope you have a good day. --Yamla 03:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Don't respond to the provocation, but type on that person's talk page {{subst:npa2|User talk:WereWolf}} or whatever page the attack is posted, then npa3 and then npa4 if they don't stop. After that, post this again and ask for an admin. Xiner (talk, email) 18:22, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RHCP

Hi! I saw that you reverted my edit on Red Hot Chili Peppers about genres with the comment that "For the tenth time, RHCP are NOT Pop Rock!!". I'm just wondering, what genre do you consider By The Way and Stadium Arcadium to be? Since both albums contain Pop Rock, I don't understand why it shoudn't be in the list of genres. [edit] Wikistress

Sorry to hear that problems at Red Hot Chili Peppers are causing you stress. If vandalism from anonymous IPs is becoming a big issue, bringing something up about it at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection, which may be able to assist in the situation. -- Natalya 01:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Sometimes, editing disagreements are not vandalism, and it can be tough to deal with. Perhaps try taking a look at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes - I know it's hard to stay cool when you feel like you're being attacked, but it really is the best way to deal with things. Good luck. -- Natalya 03:35, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love music video 0001.jpg. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. [edit] LGBT WikiProject Newsletter

The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter!
Issue III - February 1, 2007

Announcement: If someone requests help or feedback on an article, please try your hardest to help them out if you are able. Thank you.

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

I'm sorry to hear that about your parents, that really can't be easy. I have a similar situation at home, though not related to my sexuality. It's not fun having to hide who you are from the people you live with.
I can understand if you want to leave Wikipedia, it can be very annoying sometimes when people just ignore or revert your edits for no reason, and I can't offer anything other than you ought'nt let it get to you (because they clearly just don't GET it, DUH! :P). If you want to leave, ok, go chill out a bit, watch some tv, eat some twinkies, but maybe when exam time's over, consider coming back, yeah? Thanks for uploading Image:Marilyn Manson - Murderdolls Dead In Hollywood Evilsync HDP 0001.jpg. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. [edit] Image:Kittie_-_Into_The_Darkness_Video.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kittie_-_Into_The_Darkness_Video.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 18:09, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:Kittie_-_Into_The_Darkness_Video_0001.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}.
