Wentworth is a town in Lake County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 188 at the 2000 census.

Wentworth is located at 43°59′48″N, 96°57′58″W (43.996803, -96.966092)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 188 people, 83 households, and 54 families residing in the village. The population density was 741.6 people per square mile (290.3/km²). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 355.0/sq mi (139.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.81% White, 1.60% Native American, 0.53% Asian, and 1.06% from two or more races.

There were 83 households out of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.9% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.70.

In the village the population was spread out with 21.3% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 104.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.5 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,438, and the median income for a family was $36,042. Males had a median income of $31,000 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $18,097. None of the families and 8.6% of the population were living below the poverty line.
