Wendron United Football Club are a Cornish football club based in Carnkie, west Cornwall, currently playing in the South West Peninsula League Division One West. They run sixteen teams in total,[1] including another four Saturday men's teams, playing in the Cornwall Combination, Falmouth & Helston League Divisions One and Two, and Mining League Division Three. They also have a ladies team who play in the Cornwall Women's League (West) Division Three, and a large number of youth teams.

[edit] History

Wendron Cricket Club was formed in 1949 as Porkellis Cricket Club, however the football side of the club did not come in to being until 1986 as Wendron CC United Football Club. They played infrequent football at first, but soon established themselves as a decent league side within the Falmouth & Helston League. The football side of the club is now one of the most prominent in West Cornwall, and with new facilities recently opened, they gained promotion to the new South West Peninsula League Division One West, dropping the "Cricket Club" element of their name in 2007.
