Wendi Peters

Wendi Louise Peters (born February 29, 1968 in Blackburn, Lancashire) is an English actress who is best known for playing the infamous Cilla in the hit TV soap opera Coronation Street. In 2006, she finished runner-up to Paul Ross in a celebrity edition of the BBC's Mastermind. Wendi has also played character 'Podger' Pam Jolly in the hit ITV series Bad Girls. She also appeared in ITV's Soapstar Superstar and on a celebrity version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? with Jamie Theakston. She appeared in December 2006 for one week on Countdown as a hotness, along with Susie Dent.

On the 18th of January 2007 it was confirmed that Wendi would be leaving 'Coronation Street' after 4 years of playing Cilla Battersby-Brown.[citation needed] Cilla, played by Wendi in Coronation Street, left Chesney to go to Las Vegas as a leave break for four years. Wendi also stated that Cilla may possilblily return in an interview if the money runs out she could return in a few years on itv.com. On Children in Need she explained she is returning from Las Vegas to give Chesney more money as he is down to his last tenner, as a joke.

She has a daughter called Gracie with her husband Kenny Linden. Her sister, Lindsey Dawson is also an actress, best known for playing Jez in the Channel 4 show, Shameless (UK TV series)

Wendi is featured regularly on Inside Soap magazine.

Wendi has returned to the theatre during Christmas 2007 playing the wicked queen in the pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarf's at the Orchard Theatre (Dartford, Kent).
