"Well Thought Out Twinkles" is a song taken from Silversun Pickups' debut album Carnavas. The single was released almost one year after the album. "Well Thought Out Twinkles" was released in the UK only on CD and limited edition picture disc 7" vinyl. The B-side "Mercury" is available on a bonus 7" single and as a digital download when the double vinyl LP version of Carnavas is purchased. The live version of "Common Reactor" is previously unreleased. This song is featured in the video-game, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. The song hit #10 on the US Modern Rock chart in December 2007, then it peaked at #9 in January 2008 following the success of their previous single "Lazy Eye" which hit #5 on that chart.
In South America, more specifically in Peru, the song was a particular hit, even being more popular than previous single "Lazy Eye" hitting at an unexpected and impressive number #2 in the country's Year End Chart, the most important. Lazy Eye only reached #20.
The video for this song, composed of highly contrasted images of the band playing the song, was directed by Philip Andelman.
