- In The Simpsons episode Million Dollar Abie, Grampa Simpson is sent to a suicide doctor by the Old Jewish Man. The doctors office is next to a Howard Johnsons. This is an allusion to the ethical suicide parlors being next to Howard Johnsons in this story.
- In the motion picture "Soylent Green", citizens of a vastly overcrowded New York City (including the character played by Edward G. Robinson) end their lives in ethically run suicide parlors.
