Template:Welcome SLR

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello Welcome SLR, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our Introduction contains a lot of helpful material for new users - please check it out! If you need general help, check out Wikipedia:Questions or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. I noticed that you showed an interest in Sri Lanka related articles. Please take a look at WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation, a bipartisan effort to improve collaboration on and coverage of the Sri Lankan Civil War. Among other things, we collected a number of recommendations for getting your point across while keeping out of trouble. We're here to help! In any event, we invite you to leave us a message on our talk page.

Happy editing!

[edit] About this template

This template has been created as part of WP:SLR.

[edit] Usage

Use one of the following:

What to type What it makes
{{subst:Welcome SLR}} writes message as it appears on this page
{{subst:Welcome SLR|~~~~}} Recommended - adds your signature. (Special case of next row.)
{{subst:Welcome SLR|text=more text}} Replaces the default greeting "Happy editing!" with the indicated text. Don't forget to add your signature!
{{subst:Welcome SLR|~~~~|name=new user's first name}} allows a more personal message when the new user has a signature like "JohnDoe123"
{{subst:Welcome SLR|text=more text|name=new user's first name}} same as above with alternative text
{{subst:Welcome SLR|~~~|name=-}} writes message without a name (useful for IP accounts when you don't wan't to call a person "123.234.56.78")
{{subst:Welcome SLR|~~~~|intro=-}} Leaves out the first paragraph. This way, the template can be used for established editors, as well.

Other combinations of the parameters should work, but have not been tested. (There is also a parameter forcelink which I use in the project page itself so it doesn't do the automatic bolding.)
