[edit] Disambiguation page or directory?

Argh! I was fixing links to the Welsh disambiguation page and looked here. It's gigantic! Does it honestly need every person with the surname Welch? I thought the idea of a disambiguation page was that if someone typed an ambiguous string into the search box, they would be given relevant links. (Do people really try to find Laura Bush by typing in "Welch", incidentally?) Not to list every person with the surname. At the very least, might it not be better to move the company up beyond the people and place names?

Would it be possible to trim this page somehow? I am planning to have a go, but since someone has obviously spent some time alphabeticising and so on, I don't want to trash their work totally. Any thoughts on how to make this page more readable, before I start?
