Weiss Ritter/Rein Weiss Ritter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Weiss Ritter (Weiß Ritter/ヴァイスリッター) is a fictional robot in the Super Robot Wars series. Its upgrade is the Rein Weiss Ritter. It has appeared as a playable unit in Super Robot Wars Compact 2 Part 2, Part 3, Super Robot Wars Impact, and the Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation series. Weiss Ritter is German for white knight (although it's a literal translation and grammatically incorrect; "Weisser Ritter" would be the correct form) and Rein Weiss Ritter means pure white knight (although once again, it's a literal translation and grammatically incorrect).

[edit] Appearance

The Weiss Ritter is colored almost completely white with blue trim in certain areas. Despite its heavily-ornate appearance, its armor is only half the strength of the original Gespenst, and it is extremely light in comparison. This allows for the unit to use its speed to compensate for the lack of defense in the new armor. The Rein Weiss Ritter looks biomechanical in nature with traces of the white armor plating of the original Weiss but replaced with green, tentacle-like tendrils and red spherical jewels around its chassis. Coupled with four bat-like wings on its back, this gives the Rein Weiss Ritter an unusual, somewhat demonic appearance.

[edit] Technical And Historical

The ATX Project was designed to set up new Personal Troopers that would prove to be the next generation high-spec weapons. A long range combat unit was to be created using the PTX-007-3 Gespenst MK II as a base. This new unit would utilize a Telsa Drive to fly. It would excel at speed/maneuverability and therefore sacrifice armor. This unit would carry an array of weapons with its main one being the Oxtongue Launcher (named after a type of spear). The codename for this unit would be the PTX-007-03C Weiss Ritter. The Weiss Ritter was created and designed by Dr. Marion Radom, who originally conceived the idea of a newly-customized Gespenst MK II, although the unit would later prove to be too expensive to mass produce and only one unit would be completed. This single unit would fall into the hands of ATX Team member, Excellen Browning. She would take this as her personal unit in the events of Original Generation and would work alongside her boyfriend Kyosuke Nanbu and his Alt Eisen. Together, they can perform their signature combination attack, the Rampage Ghost.

In Original Generation 2, after the Einst captured Excellen Browning and her machine, they began to possess her, which was not difficult due to the fact that her body was part Einst. Her machine was upgraded using Einst technology which boosted the power output (and consequently, the machine's speed) to new heights. 60 percent of the armor was replaced by Einst technology, including the transformable Howling Launcher. After Excellen returned to her teammates, this new machine was designated as the PTX-007-03UN Rein Weiss Ritter. Despite the ATX Team being hesitant to use Einst technology, Excellen would utilize this weapon to its fullest potential. At the end of the war, after the Einst were defeated, the Einst components on the machine crumbled and reverted it back into the original Weiss Ritter.

In Super Robot Wars Original Generations, the enhancement process of the Rein Weiss Ritter is apparently an alteration of the original chassis of the Weiss Ritter after an examination done by Ryoto Hikawa and Raji Montoya. Therefore, it does not have any true Einst elements on the machine as the Rein Weiss Ritter does not revert back into the original, thereby allowing Excellen to fully utilize it during the Bartoll attacks, retconning the events in the Nintendo Game Boy Advance version of Original Generation 2.

[edit] Specifications

[edit] Weiss Ritter

Height: 21.7 meters

Weight: 60.3 tons

Weapon Systems:

  • Beam Cannon
The Weiss Ritter fires the beam cannons on its left arm.
  • Split Missile
These are more advanced versions of the split missiles the normal Gespenst has. They are missiles stored on the upper backpack that can launch and split open to reveal smaller missiles..
  • Plasma Cutter
This is the Weiss Ritter's only melee weapon. It is a single plasma cutter for handheld use.
  • Oxtongue Launcher E(Energy mode)
Excellen sets the Oxtongue Launcher to its energy mode and fires it as an energy cannon. Called Oxtongue Rifle E in US version.
  • Oxtongue Launcher B(Bullet mode)
Excellen sets the Oxtongue Launcher to ballistic mode and fires solid cannon rounds at the target. Called Oxtongue Rifle B in US version.
  • Oxtongue Launcher W
In this mode, the Weiss Ritter can freely use both the E and B modes. Excellen fires a series of cannon rounds followed by an energy blast. The Original Generation 2 version of the attack also fires Split Missiles and the Triple Beam Cannon. Called Oxtongue Rifle D(Double mode) in US version.
  • Rampage Ghost
Excellen and Kyosuke's signature combination attack. There are different attack animations depending on the game:
    • In Impact, the Weiss Ritter launches 4 sets of Split Missiles. A successful hit allows the Alt Eisen Riese to deliver its Plasma Horn attack, sending the enemy flying away, followed by a returning attack of the Weiss's Oxtongue Launcher E at point-blank range. To end it off, the Alt uses its Revolving Bunker while the Weiss simultaneously stabs the enemy with its Plasma Cutter.
    • In Original Generation, the Alt Eisen rushes in first while the Weiss Ritter fires its Beam Cannon attack. A successful hit allows the Alt to deliver its Heat Horn attack followed by a returning attack of the Weiss's Oxtongue Launcher E at point-blank range. To end it off, the Alt uses its Revolver Stake while the Weiss simultaneously stabs the enemy with its Plasma Cutter.
    • In Original Generation 2, the attack animation is the same as Original Generation's, albeit the Weiss using its Oxtongue Launcher B attack instead of its Plasma Cutter at point-blank range.
    • In Original Generations, the attack begins with both mecha flying towards the enemy while the Alt Eisen empties its entire arsenal of the Heavy Claymore attack. The Weiss Ritter supports the Alt with the E mode of the Oxtongue Launcher. The target is juggled into the air by the shots as the Alt and Weiss position themselves on both sides a short distance away. Both machines then frantically charge at the unit, attacking with the Alt's Autocannon and the Weiss's Triple Beam Cannon before slamming into the enemy from both sides with the Revolver Stake and Oxtongue Launcher B, emptying their clips into the unit at point-blank range. The Alt and Weiss retreat away as the enemy is engulfed in a cataclysmic explosion.

[edit] Rein Weiss Ritter

Height: 21.9 meters

Weight: 65.5 tons

Weapon Systems:

  • Triple Beam Cannon
The Weiss Ritter fires the energized beam cannons on its left arm.
  • Split Missile
These are more advanced versions of the split missiles the normal Gespenst has. They are missiles stored on the upper backpack that can launch and split open to reveal smaller missiles.
  • Howling Launcher E-Mode
Excellen sets the Howling Launcher to its energy mode and fires a large energy beam. In Original Generations, the Rein Weiss Ritter fires countless number of the E-Mode beams, moving swiftly from one position to another so fast that it looks like several mecha, bombarding the enemy with multiple blasts. This attack can hit several enemies at once.
  • Howling Launcher B-Mode
Excellen sets the Howling Launcher to ballistic mode. It then fires large solid rounds at the target.
  • Howling Launcher X-Mode
What the "X" stands for is unknown. This mode transforms the Howling Launcher in a very scary fashion into a larger (and more intimidating) mode which mounts three large energy cannons. The Rein Weiss Ritter launches a super charged energy shot to annihilate the opponent. In Original Generations, the Weiss uses its Howling Launcher E-Mode to hit its target from several angles at once before it ascends, transforms the Howling Launcher into its X-Mode, and fires the deadly beam vertically at the enemy. The resulting shot sends the unit crashing to the ground, exploding in a cataclysmic fashion.
  • Rampage Ghost
Excellen and Kyosuke's signature combination attack. Both the Alt Eisen Riese and Weiss fire their Chaingun and Triple Beam Cannon attack, respectively. The Alt rushes while the Weiss uses its Howling Launcher E attack. A successful hit allows the Alt to deliver its Plasma Horn attack, sending the enemy unit flying directly into the energy beam from the Howling Launcher. The Alt then drives its Revolving Bunker into the enemy, setting off all 6 of its charges, resulting in the enemy flying off. The Weiss returns a Howling Launcher B attack at point-blank range, and with the Alt, simulataneously unleash the Howling Launcher X and Claymore Avalanche attacks, ending the combination attack.
    • In Original Generations, while the Rein Weiss Ritter unleashes a barrage of its Howling Launcher E-Mode on the enemy, the Alt charges its Plasma Horn and pierces the unit and sends it flying away. The Weiss returns with a few shots of the Howling Launcher B-Mode and the Alt unloads its Claymore Avalanche attack. As the Weiss changes its Howling Launcher into its X-Mode, the Alt slams the Revolving Bunker into the enemy and delivers it into the path of the X-Mode's beam. The impact from both attacks is so great that the enemy explodes in a cataclysmic fashion while the Alt and Weiss looks on from away.
