Weigeltisaurus was a genus of avicephalan reptile that lived in Madagascar about 280 million years ago, during the Permian Period. It had "wings" consisting of ribs protruding from its body and being joined by skin, allowing it to glide. This lizard-like reptile possibly had a very small frill at the back of its head covering most of its neck area[citation needed]. This animal may be the same as Coelurosauravus, therefore possibly making the name redundant.
