webMethods Glue

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

webMethods Glue is an enterprise web services platform from webMethods to provide web services/SOAP capabilities to existing Java and C/C++ applications.[1]

The Java based product enables developers to add enterprise web services integration to their legacy applications with little or no programming effort.[1] It is intended as an embeddable product (small footprint[2]) to quickly turn a non web service enabled application into one which exposes functionality as web services.[3] Similar to the open source Apache Axis, the Glue product is about providing a layer of web service operability with existing applications.[4]

In September 2003 GLUE featured in a Microsoft Press book titled "Microsoft .NET and J2EE Interoperability Toolkit."[8].

The product was acquired by webMethods as part of the merger with The Mind Electric[6]. The merger resulted in a rebranding of the product with the webMethods prefix to become "webMethods Glue".[9]
