[edit] SeaBus
Hello Webgeer. Where did you find the information on the SeaBus you recently added? I found it interesting. Zhatt 00:10, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I got a tour of the seabus by the operations manager earlier this year. I wish I could remember some of the other specific things he mentioned (name of the designer, and various facts and figures) -- Webgeer 17:12, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Regional District
Whosyourjudas (talk) 21:31, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Hello, this is a reply to the regional district thing. The seats are basicly just where the office for the RD is. I went to each website and looked for it. I realize the term is not used, but it helps for those interested in where the government of the said RD convenes. Earl Andrew 17:33, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Vancouver
Scenery: However unfair it might be to use it as a come-on to Vancouver, the Olympic Mountains CAN actually be seen from the Vancouver Area - southwest Vancouver (high enough point south of 41st) and likely also from the North Shore mountains - though admittedly they are very low on the horizon & often hard to pick out. I can quite often see them from Richmond's Garry Point even at sea level. -- --JimWae 06:25, 2004 Dec 3 (UTC)
[edit] Canada Line
Hi Webgeer about the Canada Line Name. I have talked with The Hon. Stephen Owen and Several Federal MP's & First Minister Gordon Campbell and Provincial MLA's on the Name, They have told me It's Offically The Canada Line and i have an Email from the RAVCO Corporation on the Name. PeterAKer :)
[edit] Not Bombardier?
You have posted that the new line is not likely to use the same bombardier stock as the two existing lines. But I don't see where you have given a source for this. Did you read an article, or interview? Is it informed speculation? Do you have an inside source? -- Geo Swan July 5, 2005 22:30 (UTC)
[edit] Capilano park and bridge
I think there should be some reference to this in the Vancouver article, as it might be missed by someone when planning a trip (they probably would not be looking through the outlying regions). Leonard G. 22:22, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimania 2006
In the course of informal discussions at Wikimania in Frankfurt the possibility of having Wikimania 2006 in Vancouver was raised. What makes Canada desirable for such a meeting is the capacity to draw delegates from the United States. For many overseas delegates, however, U.S. visa requirements make that country less attractive. All else being equal, Europeans see Vancouver as a more interesting Canadian city to visit than Toronto, the only other Canadian city to receive significant consideration.
Preliminary bids from various cities need to be made by Sept. 30, 2005. A short list will be drawn from those bids. Is there enough interest and energy to put together such a conference in Vancouver for August 2006? The people in Frankfurt put on a tremendous gathering, with a core organizational group of about a dozen people. Some 400 people attended from 52 different countries.
I expect that a North American Wikimania could be a little smaller, but we would still need a suitable facility. It would be good to know that such a facility is available for a conference; the type of youth hostel facility that was used in Frankfurt does not exist in North America. What would be the cost of hosting such a conference at UBC?
I'm looking for interest and commitment. To that end I am proposing a Vancouver meetup for Saturday, Sept. 24. If someone has a reasonably accesible place for such a meeting please let me know. (I live in Richmond, but something in the city of Vancouver would be more appropriate.)
I am spammiong this to all Vancouver area Wikipedians that I can find. Please reply to my talk page. Eclecticology 21:50:16, 2005-09-03 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Fixed to Avoid Redirect
I was sitting here trying to think up a really good set of arguments as to why to avoid redirects when I realised that I'd finished them all anyway. You may be right for some of the redirects but for others it is worthwile changing. Some were of the type "incorrect airport name" or "incorrect airport name A|incorrect airport name B". But mainly it's down to speed. Wikipedia is slow. It may be fast in places like southern Canada and the US but many people are still on dial-up or like me a high speed that isn't realy. As soon as an article reaches a certain size it can take me 30sec to 1 min to load. If a redirect can be avoided it helps speed the process up. Cheers! [edit] MLA or MP?
On Blair "unfair" Wilson page you said he was and MLA??? What do you mean by that?
- I did not say Blair Wilson was an MLA, I said that the previous NDP candidate is now an MLA. Nicholas Simons ran in the 2004 federal election for the NDP. He then won the Powell River-Sunshine coast seat as an MLA in the BC legislature. -- Webgeer 08:05, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BC Ferries Pictures
I've started a category of BC Ferries vessels / docks images over at Commons - would you be able to upload your pictures there and include them in the category? -- Tawker 05:44, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks so much for the reference on the Fatal Bear Attack discussion page
I have been trying to enroll Canadian Wikipedians in the concept of adding content to this page since so many of North America's bear attacks happened in Canada. Thanks so much for your input. I intend to revisit the List articles that I've done soon and will be sure to investigate your reference. --Hokeman 03:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Victoria High School
You really need to write the article/sections from scratch and not use just one source. I figured it was a copyright violation by searching on long phrases and getting exact matches. Your message was timely. Check this out: Iain Black --Usgnus 06:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Here is an example of text copied verbatim: "By 1882, the facilities of the log building were inadequate and a new building, later known as Boys' Central School, was opened." --Usgnus 06:20, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Much better. Now it actually reads like an encyclopedia and not a high school website. --Usgnus 06:46, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
