[edit] Discussion
A common practice among desktop apps seems to be to have as a file icon for files, associated with them their icon inside a white sheet of paper with a curled corner. Thus, a globe inside a sheet might be a good idea - would be easily recognizable by non-coders. How about Crystal SVG's HTML icon (©Everaldo, LGPL'd)? --logixoul 21:39, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, I think something like the Crystal SVG icon would look a bit weird in the context of an encyclopedia stub note. --Mysidia (talk) 07:27, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
See tests below and think again. --logixoul 18:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- The current version of the icon has two things that bother me: (1) It seems to be too large, and (2) the use of <?xml and <!DOCTYPE.. which would only be recognized by people familiar with XML. --Mysidia (talk) 07:27, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Obviously, all stub icons in Wikipedia should be of equal size. What it should be, should be a guideline. No such exists yet, but feel free to create one. I agree with the code remark. --logixoul 18:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- I much prefer the version that uses WWW. --Mysidia (talk) 07:27, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Doesn't look like an icon. Icons are not supposed to be read: they're supposed to be recognized --logixoul 18:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Overwhelmingly, "What Makes a web Page" is the user experience, not a specific technology that happens to underlie it; XML or Javascript code snippets are meaningless; but at least most users recognize WWW and HTTP. --Mysidia --Mysidia (talk) 07:27, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree, but my previous comment remains. --logixoul 18:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Variants
I'll put the second one if nobody objects. --logixoul 18:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- I like the second one, but the image seems a tad blurry. The Stub guideline says the image should be small, so perhaps instead? It's small, still looks good and doesn't really look blurry. ~ Oni Lukos ct 00:01, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Aight, I put the second one @35x35. --logixoul 22:01, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nuvola
I've decided to use because Nuvola is used elsewhere on the site. It’s similar to what we had before: page with globe. Seahen 12:56, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
