Talk:Web integration

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article was apparently created as an ad for an external link that was originally included, and which comes up #1 on Google too. Is this just a neologism or marketing term coined by that specific company, or is "web integration" really a distinct concept? It seems to me that term could mean any number of things, and the article is just a collection of buzzwords. I've tagged it as "confusing" for now, but I suspect it might become an AfD candidate sooner or later. -c3o 21:29, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

The number of Google hits on "Web integration" would seem to indicate that the term should be worthy of inclusion. That said, I agree that this article is currently doing a poor job of describing it. The first paragraph of E-enablement (looks much like another linkspam creation) probably describes what I think the term means much more clearly. I'm thinking about the possibility of merging and cleaning up. --GraemeL (talk) 21:42, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Note that "web integration" is not the same as "E-enablement". Web integration means accessing an existing web-enabled system via its web-interface in order to either (1) create an API or web service to the functionality of the system, (2) extract data from the system, (3) reuse the web-interface in a new context, e.g. as a portlet in a portal (also known as "web clipping"). E-enablement, on the other hand, seems to mean web-enabling a system, i.e. adding a web-interface to an existing non-web-enabled system.
