Talk:Wealden iron industry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Categorisation
I would disagree that this article is of low importance: the iron industry was formerly a regionally important one and (in respect of cannon) of national importance. However the present article is (as tagged) a poor one. I will try to improve it sometime. Peterkingiron 17:05, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Research source
I found this, which looks to have some useful material. Mjroots (talk) 14:40, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Samuel Smiles wrote long after the Wealden iron industry was extinct. Anything good that he discovered on the subject has long been overtaken by detailed archival research incorporated into the works by Staker and by Cleere and Crossley, cited as main sources. I would strongly recommend that Smiles shold NOT be cited. Peterkingiron (talk) 22:36, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Automated peer review
The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.
- Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.[?]
- Consider removing links that add little to the article or that have been repeated in close proximity to other links to the same article, as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) and WP:CONTEXT. Guides recommend having greater than 3% words in links, but be sure not to overlink words just to add more links.[?]
- Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates), months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.[?]
- This article has no or few images. Please see if there are any free use images that fall under the Wikipedia:Image use policy and fit under one of the Wikipedia:Image copyright tags that can be uploaded. To upload images on Wikipedia, go to Special:Upload; to upload non-fair use images on the Wikimedia Commons, go to commons:special:upload.[?]
- If there is not a free use image in the top right corner of the article, please try to find and include one.[?]
- You may wish to consider adding an appropriate infobox for this article, if one exists relating to the topic of the article. [?] (Note that there might not be an applicable infobox; remember that these suggestions are not generated manually)
- Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (numbers), there should be a non-breaking space -
between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 9000 tons, use 9000 tons, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 9000 tons.[?] - Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings), headings generally do not start with articles ('the', 'a(n)'). For example, if there was a section called ==The Biography==, it should be changed to ==Biography==.[?]
- This article is a bit too short, and therefore may not be as comprehensive as WP:WIAFA critera 1(b) is looking for. Please see if anything can be expanded upon.[?]
- Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]
