We have a technical

"We Have A Technical" is a Gary Numan song which was released on the re-issued Replicas CD.
It is set in the a Burroughsian / Phildickian world much as in the rest of his early work.
In this song a police dispacher monitoring the thought-criminals is invoked ("We have a random on the westside / Personality malfunction".... "He's addicted to the time track") as well as a sleazy personal contact ("He says I cant give you anything at all / Just a room with a bad view of you") .
The lyrics reprise the desire of Numan's androids to be human ("I could crawl around the floor just like I'm real", a lyric also used in Metal) which itself may be a metaphor for his own admitted autism.
This song was covered by Damon Albarn and Matt Sharp on the 1997 tribute album "Random".
