"We Run This" is the third U.S. single from rapper Missy Elliott's 2005 album The Cookbook, and the lead single from her 2006 compilation Respect M.E.. It samples The Sugarhill Gang version of The Shadows' song "Apache" and was released in early 2006 (see 2006 in music) in the U.S., where it peaked at number forty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100. It was released in the UK on August 21, 2006 and launched Elliott back into the UK top forty after "Teary Eyed" was her first single to miss it.

[edit] Stick It Version/Video
An edited version of "We Run This" was used as the theme song for the gymnastics-themed film Stick It. The single's video features clips from the film. Missy Elliott also does some gymnastics in the video which caused her to tear her Achilles' tendon while shooting the video. The mini-video for another track from The Cookbook, "Badman" was tacked to beginning of the video. A mini-video is essentially a video for an album track that is not the A-Side and the video for the A-Side becomes a "double feature" in a way. The video was shot in January 2006 and released in April 2006 and received heavy airplay on television networks BET, MTV, and VH1.
[edit] Awards
The song was nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award for "Best Rap Solo Performance".[1] Dominique Dawes appeared as a gymnast in the video.
