"We Break the Dawn" is a pop/dance/R&B song recorded by American singer-songwriter Michelle Williams, the first single from her forthcoming album Unexpected. The song was written by Andrew Frampton, Michelle Williams and Solange Knowles, and produced by Wayne Wilkins and Andrew Frampton.[1] It was released on the People.com website on March 31, 2008.[2] Its arrangement is built over simple synth-heavy and an understated back beat, and its lyrics chronicle a woman's feelings on a dance club.

"We Break the Dawn" is the first mainstream pop music single from Williams, moving away from her previous Gospel-oriented style. "Stop This Car", the originally rumored lead-off single,[3] has since been confirmed as the second single.[4]

This song has been remixed by Flo Rida. He is featured rapping in one verse.
