I've decided to pick up the translation of this page, since no one has touched it for almost four months. I will detail the progress of my effort in here, for the reference of future interested parties. The translated sections as they stand now are translated on a "word-for-word" basis. The syntax is contrived and the sentences do not flow. I will attempt to finish translating the rest of this page in the existing style, in the mean time paraphrasing everything from the top on a "point-by-point" basis. Since neither English nor French is my mother tongue, I am very open to suggestions and criticisms on my translation.

I will also make an attempt to add parallel American note values in parentheses beside the English ones currently used in the translation.

Edited opening paragraph and Section 1.1

Began cleaning of rampant references and alternative titles which, while acceptable in French and biographies, does not conform to the standard encyclopedic style in English. I quote an example of such from the section 'Opus 111 in literature'.

"..as the sum of the pianistic works of the maestro of Bonn.."

Here the author referred to Beethoven as "the maestro of Bonn" to avoid uttering his name so many times. Of course, we can assume that anyone who has ever acquired the taste to appreciate Op. 111 knows that Beethoven was born in Bonn. In fact, an intelligent reader without such prior knowledge can even infer from the context that the title refers to Beethoven. However, as scribes we cannot choose our audience. It is a better practice to only use established references.

Began replacing instances of 'opus' with Op. (So Opp. would be used rather than opera, just a personal preference)

I resisted the urge to elaborate on Antonia Brentano, the alleged "Immortal Beloved". I even considered taking out the entire paragraph, in accordance with wiki's trivia guidelines. Phrases such as "one can imagine" and "even if no source mentions it" should never be seen in an encyclopedia. For now, I have rephrased the paragraph to sound less speculative. However I will revisit this paragraph at a later time for possible deletion.
