WDAV "Classical 89.9" is a non-commercial public radio station located in Davidson, North Carolina and serving the Charlotte, North Carolina market. The station, owned by Davidson College, airs classical music and fine arts programming.
WDAV signed on in 1973 as a student-run college radio station, taking over from a carrier current station that had been on the air since 1969. In 1978, it was upgraded to a full-service professional operation. A series of power increases boosted its coverage area to 22 counties in North and South Carolina.
