WCRS-LP is an American community radio station and service of Simply Living broadcasting in the Columbus, Ohio, area. It broadcasts 3PM to 8PM seven days a week. The station also airs programming from the Pacifica Radio Network.[1] The station is a not-for-profit, volunteer, non-commercial community radio station.

The station was assigned the WCRS-LP call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on March 30, 2006.[2]

WCRS-LP is a voice of Simply Living in Central Ohio to create a compassionate and sustainable world. WCRS-LP is a non-commercial, listener-supported community radio station serving Central Ohioans, providing quality programming to:

  • Promote personal and civic responsibility, informed action and thoughtful living;
  • Challenge cultural and intellectual assumptions;
  • Celebrate local cultures;
  • Air alternative points of view and facilitate understanding through dialogue;
  • Foster community empowerment and participation.

WCRS-LP is limited to certain areas of Columbus Ohio. The original tower located at +40°3'47.99,-82°53'44.99[3] The signal relay tower is locater at Marble Cliff, Ohio +39° 59' 37.00, -83° 2' 8.99 [4] Here are the broadcast range maps for 102.1FM the station broadcast tower. [5] and its signal relay tower, 98.3. [6] There are two radio stations that are next to the two towers. WHOK-FM[7] signal relay tower is next to WCRS LPFM place on the FM dial. The signal relay tower for WHOK FM broadcast at 50 watts. [[WNCI-FM][8] broadcast at 175,000 watts. There is another station WXMG-FM[9] at 98.9FM broadcasting from Upper Arlington, Ohio at 2,600 watts. Here is some listening tips[10] and more information about how to tune into the two frequencies.

WCRS-LP offers community and Pacifica Radio shows. The main two Pacifica shows that airs on WCRS-LP are Democracy Now[11] and Free Speech Radio News.[12]

On This Day In History It airs after both broadcasts of Democracy Now, Monday to Friday and during the weekend. It is produced by Evan Davis.

Simply Healthy Airs Wednesdays. It's produced by Kris Keller. Explores holistic and alternative/preventative health practices.[14]

Pat Radio Airs Wednesdays. It's produced by Pat Leonard. Local and regional rock and pop music, occasional live performances and guest deejays.[15]

Danno, Talk of the Town Dan 'Danno' Thomas features live interviews with community organizers and activists.

Turn Me On Airs Thursdays. It's produced by Jesse Barr. A music show usually featuring local producers and their acts.

Conscious Voices Program Airs Fridays It's produced by Cynthia Rosi. It's a news magazine/talk show. Conscious Voices Radio

Cranksters Airs Fridays. It's produced by Zach Henkel. Columbus Ohio only show about bicycling in Columbus Ohio.[16]

Somali Hour by Luuliyo Media Airs Saturdays. It's produced by Luuliyo Media. News show about Somali affairs.[17]

Danjir Somali Program Airs Saturdays and Sundays. It's produced by Danjir Media. Another news show about Somali affairs.[18]

Musicologie Airs Saturdays. It's produced by Adam Fleisher and Todd Pontius. Music Show.[19]

Jim Maneri Show Airs Sundays. It's produced by Jim Maneri. Offers insightful commentary on jazz and other eclectic music.[20]

  • June 2007 - WCRS Begins operations and returning community radio to Central Ohio
  • November 29th, 2007 - WCRS first airs Cranksters a talk show about Columbus' bicycle culture; Levi Klau wins the first ever 'Bike of the Week Award'
  • April 12, 2008 WCRS-LP hosted a fund raiser that drew 400 people.
