[edit] Regarding Category:Fictional_captains
Part of what you're running into is that it isn't an article, but a category.
Unlike list articles which have to be writtern, categories are populated by adding [[Category:<whatever>]] to an article. That places the article title, sorted alphabetically, into the category. Sorting can be forced either by adding a piped element, such as [[Category:Fictional captains|Kirk, James]], or {{Defaultsort:Kirk, James}}, though this is generally used if there are 3 or more categories present.
That's the best that can be done with organizing the category. Now if you want to start work on a list article where you can break the characters down by things like "Navy", "Army", "Science Fiction", and what have you, you can use the category as a resource and go from there. - J Greb (talk) 03:09, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
