WBES is one of two Charleston Sports AM stations. WBES carries FOX Sports Radio and is owned by Bristol Broadcasting Company. The station has an ERP of 1,000 watts. WBES shares a tower with WZJO-FM in Dunbar, the city of license.

- The WBES callsign was formerly on 94.5 FM which is now sister station Z Rock 94-5.
- The WBES callsign was on 96.1 FM from 1969 until 1991. That station is now known as WKWS-FM "96.1 The Wolf" owned by the competition West Virginia Radio Corporation.
