[edit] Plot

Wayside school has been closed for 243 days. When it reopens, Mrs. Jewls is going to have a baby. The first of Mrs. Jewls's subsitutes comes in, Mr. Gorf. Mr. Gorf takes people's voices and begins to call the students' parents, using the children's voice to say hateful things. Then, Mrs. Mush, the cafeteria cook destroys Mr. Gorf's voice stealing power.

The second of the subsitutes, Miss Drazil arrives. At first, she is very nice, but then an old feud between her and Louis reimerges again. While Louis is with Miss Drazil, he changes. Louis goes from kid-lover to strict rules and all business. He shaves off his mustache and begins to enforce very strict (and often absurd) rules. Because the children like Louis more than Miss Drazil, they decide to get rid of her. The kids sneak off with and read Miss Drazil's blue notebook, and realize in order to get rid of Miss Drazil, they must find Jane Smith, another student whom Miss Drazil dislikes. Jason realizes his dentist, Dr. Payne, is Jane Smith. Jason tells Deedee, and they walk by Miss Drazil, mentioning how Dr. Payne is Jane Smith. Later, Miss Drazil goes to Jane Smith's home, and when they drive away, they are never seen again.

[edit] The 19th Chapter

In every Wayside book, the 19th chapter is always portrayed as the 19th floor. In this installment, Miss Zarves has a cow in her class, presumably left over from the events in the previous book (It is mentioned in the first chapter that Louis had cleared the school of cows, but kept hearing an untraceable 'moo'). The cow continually distracts Miss Zarves to the point where she can no longer teach. She goes to Principal Kidswatter to complain, but he doesn't see or hear her. She finally storms out of the school, intending to quit, but the three men with the attaché cases stop her and tell her she is a good teacher and that the school needs her. Miss Zarves returns to the school feeling validated.

[edit] End

The last of of the subsitutes comes, Ms. Wendy Nogard, who has an ear on the top of her hair that can hear other peoples thoughts. Ms. Nogard caused Mrs. Jewls's class to become miserable, by listening in on their thoughts. Then, Mrs. Jewls came back with her baby. Everyone except Wendy loses their anger and plays with the baby. When Wendy hears the baby's thoughts, her anger disappears. She falls in love with Louis and shows everyone her third ear.

[edit] Substitute teachers

[edit] Mr. Gorf

Mr. Gorf was the son of Mrs. Gorf, who tormented the students in Sideways Stories From Wayside School, and got turned into an apple. He was born in Kathmandu, Nepal. He was never married. He had three nostrils in his nose, the middle one had the power to suck out voices out of people and make them his own. He then lost it when he sneezed it off.

[edit] Mrs. Drazil

Mrs. Drazil was 66 years old, and weighed 124lbs. She kept a blue journal of all the bad students she had since she started teaching decades ago.

[edit] Ms. Wendy Nogard

Wendy has an ear above her head that can hear thoughts. When she was dumped by Xavier, she began to make everyone's life miserable.
